Crafted for Generations

A heritage brand since 1991.

We produce hand thrown Moroccan terracotta pots.

Timeless Origins. Contemporary Spirit.

First founded in 1991 and relaunched in 2024 by the grandson of the original founder, Barbary is a family-owned business producing beautiful hand thrown Moroccan terracotta pots, known for their unique designs, smooth texture and unmistakable pale pink colouring.

We work with local craftsmen using traditional techniques to produce high quality handcrafted designs. Each piece is thoughtfully created and meticulously crafted to enhance any space, blending timeless style with authentic artistry.

By working with local potters, Barbary not only promotes the beauty and authenticity of Moroccan craftsmanship but also supports the livelihoods of the artisans who keep these traditions alive.

Our approach builds an appreciation for handmade, sustainable products, whilst offering our customers a chance to bring a piece of Moroccan style into their home.

Our pots are made from a unique blend of clay from three mineral-rich regions across Morocco, all naturally high in iron and silica which enhances our terracotta’s durability.

Each pot is crafted in multiple stages, with some of our largest designs taking up to 40 days to complete.

The final outcome is a terracotta piece that displays a delicate pale pink finish and a remarkably smooth shape.

The vision for Barbary is to cultivate a deeper appreciation for artisanal craft and to ensure these traditions thrive for years to come. Our goal is to offer our customers the chance to transform their favourite spaces with a piece of unique pottery that will be enjoyed for generations.

All of our stock is manufactured to order, in small batches, and imported quarterly. Arranged at checkout, we either offer our door to door white glove delivery service to local post codes, or work with our trusted courier partners to ensure safe and secure delivery.

  • I was absolutely thrilled to hear from Harry last year and to find out that Barbary Pots has been resurrected. I still have a Coquille pot which I bought about 25 years ago and which has weathered beautifully and survived many cold winters unscathed. They really are the best pots, elegant, versatile and long-lasting, and I will definitely be placing an order for a few more…

  • Barbary really pulled the stops out and delivered five beautiful pots for winter planting when I needed them. They absolutely survived the January frost and look great in my London garden.

  • We absolutely love our Barbary pot - it’s the focal piece of our living room and the perfect home for our fiddle leaf fig. We get so many compliments, what a fabulous way to elevate your home - inside or out!

  • Our son recently gifted us a beautifully crafted small Coquille from Barbary for Christmas. It’s an exceptional terracotta pot which is a great addition to our country garden. We love it!

  • We have a small coquille in our house in London. It is consistently commented on by guests, and largely due to the extraordinarily vivid colour - a deep Moroccan desert colour. Works perfectly with Alliums.

  • We are the proud owners of various different, wonderful pots from Barbary. They look fabulous in our courtyard and in the garden of our little house in France. Everyone comments on them because, like us, they have been so disappointed over the years with other flaky ones that crack and can't withstand frost. My two Grande Coquilles are originals from 1991.

  • I purchased the small Menara several months ago after falling in love with its design and distinctive shape - and I remain besotted. The heritage story behind Barbary, combined with the fact that each pot is handmade in Morocco, really sets it apart from other retail offerings (and makes owning one feel rather special). I should also note that Harry was incredibly helpful throughout and made the whole experience a joy. I’m excited to continue building my collection!

  • I could not be happier with my ‘Coquille’ - it’s quickly becoming the most complimented item in the garden. The craftsmanship is exquisite, capturing the authentic beauty of Morocco in a unique and interesting design, and knowing the story behind the business makes it that much more special. I was also lucky enough to have my pot delivered by Harry himself, who kindly talked me through the hand-throwing process…fascinating! I couldn’t recommend Barbary enough for anyone wanting to elevate their home or garden.

  • Many years ago, I purchased four beautiful Barbary Pots from Peter, Harry's grandpa who lived near us in Kent. The pots are much cherished and sadly, having lost two in the recent gales, I shall be looking to replace them as trying to find any to compare and match is impossible. Their beautiful coloured terracotta, shape and size is completely unique, they look gorgeous anywhere.

  • As someone who has several pots from the early days of Barbary Pots and has recently bought more, I'm pleased to see that they are every bit as good and unique as the originals
